Great I would choose the parts that allow economic benefits to flow to health care providers and innovators. Economic benefits serve as incentive to motivate them to earn greater benefits by providing better service.

"Good start... universal care in no way precludes that."

Socialized medicine's first goal is the elimination of motivation. It may not preclude it, but it always achieves the result.

Government involvement dampens this effect to the detriment of all beneficiaries including but not limited to healthcare providers and suppliers as well as consumers.

"So you think we should cut out government funding of medical research? Now THAT would lead to much lower R&D and poorer results."

I would remove most government regulation from the equation. As far as federal funding, it is miniscule. The federal government issues a few grants for medical research, but it is a small drop in the bucket.

In addition I would choose to eliminate the vampire effect of tort lawyers.

"Insurance companies suck much more "blood" from the system than lawyers."

Government administration would have a multiplicative effect. Socialized Medicine would dramatically increase the cost of administration for medical care while inflicting petty bureaucrats that could and would use their power to settle their perceived disputes by withholding life saving care.

Who is going to charge them with murder?
