The figures vary slightly, but I believe it's accepted wisdom that the USA peaked in 1970/71. I believe we now consume 20 to 25 million barrels per day. Approximately 13 of those million barrels are imported. Those figures are from memory and so they may be slightly off, but they are close enough for this discussion.

The problem we have in this election is that our choices are business as usual or Ron Paul. It should be some measure of our hunger to break out of business as usual that Ron Paul has made the impact that he has made.
