But that is no grounds for excluding the ROTC or military recruiters from college campuses. Colleges are not places of war. They are meant to educate people to a higher good....not train them to kill. Boy that displays a real lack of respect for the military. First, when the military kills it does so in the defense of the nation. This is not murder and not something that liberals should use to segregate the military from society as morally unclean The US military isn't currently defending the homeland.....its fighting wars in far off countries because the incumbent president believes its good for the country. I happen to disagree with the current president's thinking and judgement. First in the case of Iraq, you ignore the Congressional resolution authorizing the war. Second, you must not think 911 was an attack on the US homeland because our troops involvement in Afghanistan is a direct response to that attack. Afghanistan was the base of the terror group which attacked us on 911. Second, killing is not all the military does. That's right. It hands out chocolates to conquered children. Very cute! Very snarky. Your contempt of the military comes through loud and clear. Of course, the military does much more. For example, one little thing would be - the Army Corps of Engineers (dating from 1802) maintains the US navigable water ways. Also did you know the internet began as a Defense Dept communications project? --------------------------------------------------- We have a a high tech military and a very well educated officer corps. Don't you think segregation of the military from American society is undesirable? No. I think there should some deemphasis with regard to the military. It plays too important a role in this country. It is naive to think the world is naturally a nice peaceful safe place. One can think so only when one has been sheltered by capable protectors. Our society and everything we value exists because someone is willing to defend it. I don't think the world is a safe place but when the US spends as much on defense as the rest of the world does, I tend to believe the US is behaving excessively and a bit obsessively. The US military dominance is the reason most of the world is at peace now. A very unusual situation in world history. If this period passes, everyone will look back on this as the good old days. --------------------------------------- How does the abortion clinic determine a pregnacy was caused by rape and how do they know the parents refuse an abortion? They don't........some things in life are not clear. And that means in fact, that abortion on demand s/b provided to minors w/o parental consent. If it becomes necessary, yes......not all parents are enlightened...and I don't like reading about teenaged pregnant girls killing their newly born offspring. So the alternative has to be abortion on demand w/o parental consent to everyone. Its a basic right. Necessary to prevent young mothers from killing their babies. Even though someplaces girls cant get their ears pierced or tattoos w/o a parents approval, abortion is different. Yes, an abortion is very different than getting a tattoo. I would think you would know the difference by now. I know. Abortions are much more serious. --------------------------------------------- 44 states now have Baby Moses laws (copied from legislation enacted first in the primitive red state of TX). geaniemorrison.com Maybe publicity of the Baby Moses law will help. However, I suspect it won't......I think these girls feel so much shame and fear, they just want 'the problem' to go away asap without further effort on their part. Well then we should be sure to not only make abortions available on demand to a young women with no parental approval or knowledge, we should also make them free to all too. -------------------------------------------------------- In your view, isn't deploying them overseas at all an act of disrespect?
