You don't have a fixed pie, (even fixed for an instant, but growing over time) from which people take a share. You have a pie that is made by the people, who than get rewarded for it. Most of the participants in the "pie making process", help make sure everyone else gets more pie not less. That's why there is no "at the expense of" issue unless your limiting your comment to criminals, rent-seekers, and such.
