Romney impresses me as an honest, sincere person. He used a figure of speech "I saw my father march w/MLK." He knew his dad had walked out of the Goldwater convention in protest over his belief the party platform that yr was not strong enough on civil rights. Therefore, Romney meant He saw his father march for civil rights in the same way MLK marched. We might say "I saw Jimmy Carter as a far left liberal." That doesn't mean we visually "saw" him.
