No, they add features and benefits that the membership feels are worth the additional dues (taxes). The essence of Democracy.

Democracy can also be two foxes and a lamb deciding on what to have for dinner.

Which doesn't mean I'm suggesting that we should ignore what people vote for if its foolish, we should just recognize its foolish and try to get enough people to change their mind.

Federal spending goes far beyond anything that can reasonable be considered infrastructure and maintenance.

And so does private club spending.


Not to the same extent, and in any case if private clubs go to wild on spending you can quit them without having to move to a different country. (And the Feds go after you even if you do move to another country)
