If its one man, one vote and a national election, pols will follow the votes and not the states. For examply it will matter big time whether a huge state like CA gives your candidate 55% or 51% of the vote. Far more important that winning states with more livestock than people. Personally i think it would be change for the better and lead some day to more regional policies that focusing on states and pork.
