It appears that adherents to the Global Warming religion are the sort that don't take no for an an answer. If they cannot get socialism through the front door they will keep trying until they find an open window to come in through.

What's more alarming is that they no longer feel they need the semblance of logic or evidence to raise their alarms. Case in point, "The Olive Tree Doesn't Lie" from a NYT op-ed this week. The writer has a spread in Provence, and it seems his old olive tree is suffering from some untimely thaws and freezes and won't produce a crop this year.

Does he present evidence that this never used to happen? Of course not, such things have always happened in agriculture. (This is why GW appeals to an urban, not a rural audience. It helps if you are ignorant of the regular recurrence of crop failures throughout history.) Does he present or refer to evidence that it is happening more often than before due to climate change? No. Does he present or refer to evidence that if the weather patterns of Provence are changing, it is manmade and not natural change? Don't be silly, that is now taken as a given. (This is why it is so important to deny the MWP. The existence of natural climate change must be denied or minimized into non-existence for this kind of inference to work.)

Logically, the whole thing is on a par with saying "My cow is sick, so Goodie Hinsdale is a witch who cast an evil spell on her."
