Still don't get why they did this...their reasoning seemed hollow at best and terrifyingly short-sighted at worst. Blah, blah, blah, the strictest security provisions, only tested at one site, etc...

Allegedly it, or a close strain, has been handled at multiple labs that do not have BSL-4 facilities.
