Merry Christmas to all and to all a wish for a Happy, Healthy, Prosperous New Year.
Things are pretty hectic in our household right now. Movers coming 12/27 and computer will be going down before then. Cant say how long it will be before I get back up on line as our stuff wont even be delivered till between 1/8 and 1/10/08 and then I will have to arrange for internet access.

So, in case I dont have time to post again on this, dont be alarmed when I am not posting for next few weeks. JDN

A Christmas mission by our brothers in the Air Commando Association (ACA).

John Grove, the prime organizer, is a friend of mine. John is an extraordinary activist. During a visit a few years ago to speak at their annual ACA Convention and thank them, John gave me a tour of their many warehouses near Hulbert Field. It is absolutely incredible how much good stuff they collect around the country and transport to needy folks world-wide, and I do mean world-wide. John told me some years ACA distributes $25 million in donations.

During the 2002-03 Montagnard resettlement, they delivered at least 10 loads to Greensboro to support the Green Beret Warehouse, SFA Chapter 57 set up. Several loads were 50+ foot moving vans packed wall-to-wall and floor-to-ceiling with items we needed to furnish 100 apartments for 5th SFGA Montagnards.

John drove some loads to Greensboro himself. He wanted to come to assess our needs and plan the next loads.

they were taxed like everybody else in the community at the fair value.. assessments are usually done every decade if done at all. so most people are never paying tax on fair value. If you are a new owner you get assessed at current price and again fair value. If you question your assessment, annually you can appeal the evaluation and the taxed amount.

there are exceptions folks in los angles for example who are in same house of forty years are paying zip for taxes. some $100.

you are right about the fall in housing. for example boston. those who owned for last twenty or so years are millionaires in cape cod homes. yet their house in the last year may have dropped at most $100,000 and they may have paid $30,000 when they bought it. there are many senior citizens , past blue collar workers who are ,home wealthy, in this country. this whole housing surplus hasn't affected them. Just like all the other cycles they will not feel it.
