Tobacco Chiefs Say Cigarettes Aren't Addictive

By PHILIP J. HILTS,
Published: April 15, 1994
The top executives of the seven largest American tobacco companies testified in Congress today that they did not believe that cigarettes were addictive, but that they would rather their own children did not smoke.

The executives, sitting side by side at a conference table in what seemed to many a counterpoint to the growing antismoking sentiment in Congress, faced more than six hours of sharp questioning by members of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health and the Environment.

What Exxon has done is far worse; it's a crime against all of us. I don't care who ends up owning them; they can be spit between the other 6 sisters.
But fines, and even jail for guys like Lee Raymond, isn't enuf to cover the magnitude of this crime.

These are not honest people, Michael. They have fucked up your grandkids' world by their obfuscation.

These penalties ain't nearly big enuf for what Exxon has done.
This ain't about my dad the doc smoking and me getting second hand smoke. This is about 2 year old girls who are gonna grow up a in a world of hurt in a hurting world.

BTW a new poll reported on by cnbc shows hillary up by 2 TDs over edwards
34-20-19 (obama) and 8 for my man biden. What do you think happened over the last few days to cause this if this poll is true.

Whoops, missed that.

Iowa or Nat?

I think O & E will go 1-2, no guess which, in Ia. Then they will go 1-2, 1-3 in NH. By the time they get to SC, Hil will be in deep doo-doo. I hope. Or the brokered convention will go to Gore. I hope. Or Bloomb talks Gore into an indy run. But I need to cross my fingers and my toes, cuz that ain't much hope at all.

I like Biden. More every time I see him. If it wasn't for 2 0r 3 others, I'd vote for him. To me, the Dems have a strong group, and I would be embarrassed if I was an R. But there are a few Tories who feel the opposite.
