if it wont happen then its in the worlds interest for the US to be spenders, not savers. Recession and particulary deflationary recessions (aka depression in the making) are not in anyones interests. US consumer spending doesnt only drive business but it drives technology. I think the chinese eventually might be able to pick some of this up. My inlaws are chinese and they outspend me. They say chinese in china are cautios now with new found wealth but in a short time their innate consumerism will kick in.
