Defense spending is more than we need to spend. If we closed some bases, it would help our budget and we would still be very safe. I want our country protected, don't get me wrong, but how exactlty are some of our foreign bases protecting us. It is obvious that bases in the mid-east can protect us if we need more oil in the future, but how is the Korean effort protecting us for example...

We must learn to make choices.

Yeah... a lot of it is Very Misleading.

The war costs, especially --- they they are nearly ALL officially 'off-budget' (even today, when the wars add a new $15 Billion each month), the better to hide them from the public's awareness.

The costs are NOT included in the 'official' budget and deficit projections promulgated by the Bush WH....
