The cladding prevents convection. Greenhouse gasses don't do that. IMO it is a confusing term.


Cladding in greenhouses prevents convection, and the vacuum of space around the earth also prevents convection. Both systems are convectively isolated as far as warming goes. The earth being 100%, while the greenhouse is do to cost reasons, not 100% efficient in this regards. But it is designed to be as efficent as possible in this regards, especially if the greenhouse is used in cold climates during the winter.

Cladding in greenhouses in conjunction with the surface materials, alters the radiation balance.

The atmosphere of the earth (CO2 included) in conjunction with the surface (and clouds, etc) alters the radiation balance.

The two are excellent analogies for each other. Very similar equations apply. Nobody but a moron would confuse these equations for the entirely different issue of temperature regulation, which is something important in a greenhouse (and most cheaply obtained using convection assuming the outside temp is in fact lower than the inside temp, else you need active air conditioning) and oddly enough something important to the earth as well.

Please note that there is discussion about trying to regulate GW via such things as other pollutants (aerosels) or seeding the oceans with iron, etc. These could be viewed as the cooling analog to a greenhouse sucking in outside colder air to regulate temps. Of course, much different equations apply. Which is why the junkscience idiot should not have been confusing the equations of greenhouse warming with the equations of the various cooling options that one might employ. But as a general rule, one does not expect anything but junk science from junkscience.com.
