modulate means to vary the amplitude, convection is a flow of mass. And then ask such a stupid question.

how do you raise the temperature of one region via "modulating convection" ABOVE the temperature of its surroundings?

OK neolib AKA ear2earfeces a thermodynamic system contains matter and a boundary. If energy crosses the boundary the matter can have it's property of temperature change. if that system is opened with mass passing through its boundary the mass with increased temperature will be carried away. If one modulates the mass flowing through the system one will see the property of temperture of that mass in the system follow proportional to the flow of matter (the modulation of convection) and energy crossing the boundry.

Convection is a natural flow of air based on density changes proportional to the property of temperature, air has mass by the way and if air in a greenhouse exposed to the photons of energy from the sun is contained, the property of that mass of air temperature will increase and it density will decrease. But if convection is allowed then the air within the greenhouse will rise and leave and be replaced by a mass of air with the property of temperature the same as it's surrounding.
