I've been watching this BBC automotive show, "Top Gear". In one segment, the three hosts tour the American south in old cars they've bought for 1000 pounds. They drive from like Florida to New Orleans. Passing through Alabama, they are given a challenge from the shows producer to paint offensive (to the locals) slogans on each other's cars. So, they come up with stuff like "Bush = shit", "Hillary for President", "rednecks are morons", etc. Why they thought that would be funny is beyond me. They proceed to get physically assaulted at the first gas stop! Then, pickups full of armed rednecks appear and chase them down the highway shooting! They find a place to pull off and wash off the offensive slogans. They are very lucky. They could easily have been killed. When a reporter interviewed some bubba from SC about Obama, he made very clear that no black man would take the vote in SC. And this guy was not some toothless geezer...this was a regular guy in his late 20s/early 30s. Finally, they get to New Orleans and find it's a total wreck STILL, a YEAR after Katrina. Their advice to all foreigners - skip the US! That's right.....now they're getting it.
