MQ I have seem Brazil shoot itself on the foot many times. They used to have some university teachers -they used to believe on them- saying:

The country will be investing some gazillions in computers. We need to have this "strategic" sector in the hands of Brazilian companies.

Then the government would close that sector and a few companies would gorge in profits. The Brazilians would end up having: outdated technology at extorting prices.

They use to say: Plastic flowers? Alarm clocks? Not for us. This is good for Asians. We are too good to produce toys.

Until they woke up to the reality that they are good at raising chickens, cattle, planting soy beans and producing orange juice.

Leave that electro-mechanical stuff for the multis based there.
