That's conventional hydro. They are now starting to use run-of-river hyrdo, and are putting turbines on bridge supports...SF is putting one in on the GG Bridge.

I have heard of them. You still need rivers that have sufficient velocity and depth. Even then they may not work during a drought. This does increase total capacity, but you cannot put them in enough places and run them enough to replace our base power.
