I doubt if it is a terminology issue. I suspect that it is a basic philosophical issue. Most Americans believe that taxes take their hard earned money from them. Elitists seem to believe that money not taxed is money that government gives to people. Our country was founded on the supposition that people would be free to provide for themselves, suffer the costs of their mistakes and the benefits of their successes. Today many on the left are trying to create a nation in which the opposite of the values of our founding fathers are forced upon us.
