gee did you not see that nadine denies there was a scientific establishment ....here is her quote "A separate scientific establishment did not yet exist in the 16th century". the point is you changed your statement ,nadine change hers and you are still contradicting each other. its a pretty sorry act you two are putting on...perhaps you two could get it together. unfortunately nadine has a tendency to say things that are not accurate in order to attack other posters.

"Galileo's fellow scientists, with few exceptions, had spent their lifetime wedded to the geocentric conception that the earth is the center of the universe. " This isn't really true. Most "scientific" individuals of the time (and since the Greeks) knew the truth. Look what happened to Galileo! His fellow scientists, while knowing the truth, had the good sense to keep their counsel among themselves to avoid persecution from the Fundamentalist Republican types in power at the time. Then, as now, the power structure was EASILY able to find for sale "scientists" to deny heliocentricism. Just as now they find those to deny climate change, evolution, say the Earth is 6000 years old, etc.
