Ways to save on overall health care costs: -to name a few- 1. let medicare negotiate prices with drug companies as is done by the VA and by some insurance companies; multi-billion of savings--- 2. force the health sector to automate , multi , multi billions of savings, -- 3. strictly enforce limits on lawsuits, within some compassionate framework , much direct and indirect savings- less defensive medicine. 4. push promotive health such as stop smoking campaigns-- 5. prevent overinvestment in "tech" such as MRI's on every block. 6. Cut out or back on the vast administrative overhead of the insurance companies thru a different system _single payer?- ; all these and other , smaller efficiencies and cost savings could reduce our overall health sector costs by 35 to 45 percent annually.
