That didn't stop Portland from getting light rail extensions out to Beaverton and to PDX, and maybe some other places I haven't seen since I left fifteen years ago.

The first one killed a guy before it was even opened. He couldn't hear it coming down the track on a test run. I can understand that. Once while waiting to cross the track the east bound train kept honking its horn at me, apparently trying to alert me to the approaching west bound, but effectively keeping me from looking the other way.
