You didn't say "basic research" in this statement "The majority of drug and procedure research is paid for by the government and research institutions, not the drug companies.." Message 24143941 or in this one "Hell governments contribute as much to drug research as the drug companies." Message 24115752 Although research could mean anything from "basic research" to all "R&D" costs, or something in between, so its possible there is less actual disagreement and more confusion about or different use of terms than I original thought.
