The Armagh temperature station is obviously affected by the buildings and roads in Armagh

You really ought to read what the guys who run the place say. They are experienced at measuring temperatures, and have some long data sets to draw upon. They are not looking at some piffling little 20 year trend, they can look at the 200+ year trend.

It remains to be seen the role solar dimming has.

ahaha has been reading the writing in the sky...

We will be getting a lot colder over the short run as was clearly indicated by last summer's high cirrus clouds with their profuse curl turbulent ice crystal formations. I'm still seeing them now. That's unheard of on the west coast in December and it means this winter will be very cold.

but what we are really talking about is one form of human generated pollution (particles and cooling) offsetting another form human generated pollution (CO2 and heating)

It's a bit like the old woman who swallowed a fly, perhaps she will die. Next she swallows a spider to catch the fly and so on. Coal and Oil power plants are currently generating cat and dog size problems I think. Anyhow, if true, it's no way to run a planet.

I have no certain idea, but I do cover for downside risk. In this case it means buying two tons of coal, putting in the basement, and buying a cast iron stove with back boiler. If we get a cold spell, and Putin and co. turn off the gas tap, I can stay warm and toasty. If things warm up, Scotland isn't such a bad place to be.

To say we don't have an effect on the weather is kind of daft though. Real daft imo, especially the idea that the more oil a country consumes, the more accurately it's "unbiased" scientists can measure temperature, oh yeah.... and "not see any trend".
