"if read the news you know paygo is gone and the earmarks were everywhere!"

Because of obstructionist Republicans. In '08, there won't be enough of those dinosaurs left to block paygo any more. Bush had them block paygo, because it would have meant his pet war had to actually be paid for instead of rung up on the nation's credit card.

Most of the (D) failures have been due to obstructing (R)'s and the fact the the (D)'s don't have the numbers to overcome their obstruction. People see this and the remedy is obvious.

You know dems don't have the votes for pay-go or anything else they'd like to do right now, but the electorate is watching these battles.

Bush's obstructions just keep weakening the GOP.

I have no problem with rangels call for tax reform to create middle class cuts, and end to AMT etc. As a higher income taxpayer i am willing to pay at a higher rate. Problem with the democrats is that they want to eliminate 15% rate on dividends and cap gains and move them to income tax rates in the name of fairness. At the same time they want to raise marginal rates significantly. In a time of eco weakness we are in now this would be an unmitigated disaster if enacted. So we sit here an hope that its mostly rhetoric and we will get 15% up a few points and marginal rates up a point or two also. Though thats also not good for economy i think we can sneak by with it. Better yet are spending cuts, an end to pork plus efficiency in govt (the ultimate oxymoron) but dare we dream.
