But you also know that an Asian American Dem nominee would be very risky. A female, black or Hispanic is no different. It's uncharted territory. Until the demos are over 50% non-white in this country, white males has a clear advantage in a presidential race, and the GOP has an advantage to begin with due to the electoral system. I come from a different perspective. My old best friend is with the Romney camp and a very important member of it, so I know those people and how effective they can be against liberals. Romney has won three times in liberal Mass. so he knows how to disarm liberals. He also knows how to pander to the far right and sound not entirely dishonest. He will in fact say anything. My mother's family comes from the absolute average swing vote district in the US, that being southern Illinois which is similar to Iowa and Missouri. Those swing voters who decide who's president are good people basically, but they are white, traditional, fairly conservative and don't like to rock the boat. They often don't even know any blacks, jews or Hispanics. They voted for Clinton and Bush because of their smooth twangs. Next they would vote for Edwards. Edwards is their perfect candidate because he's not a phony. So if we want to carry Missouri and places like that, get Edwards as our nominee. Then we get a clear victory. Obama might work, and is a great man, but he's very risky at this stage. He makes those swing voters far too susceptible to the rightwing white male military conservative myth BS. That is the truth, like it or not.
