Yes, Chris, and I was also thinking more in terms of societal measurements, like child poverty or drop-out rates, although in those categories we're pulling into the lead...lol! Speaking of Larry Craig....normally exposure of hypocrisy like that warms my heart....but Craig was painful to watch, esp. his wife. Having said that, the faith-based republicans definitely took hypocrisy to a new level. I think the Rs racked up a couple of pedophiles to their credit, didn't they?? And their candidates certainly lead in numbers of divorces. Yep, this is a political party that has earned the right to stay in power.

We used to have all ten spots Elroy. I think Kate means we're falling behind where we USED to be. Well, that's not what she wrote. I try not to put my own thoughts into other's words. So, in your opinion, she meant to write the USA leads the world and is #1 in numerous measurable categories, but other countries are gradually catching up in a few areas? That sounds pretty good, and is something for the US to be proud of. We are helping the other nations of the world to pull themselves out of poverty and enjoy some of the vast wealth that we have become accustomed to - good for us! In MANY categories. Moral leadership springs to mind - kidnapping and torture will do that to a country. This is a silly claim. Which country is lead, morally, by another country? No nation of people outsources their moral values to another nation.
