Peter thinks 8 bucks is a lot of money to pay. Minimum wages laws in the US are as much a lagging indicator of wages as anything else and thus mean little. Like the elimination of the death tax, the no minimum wage argument is an extreme republican talking point that means little to the economy's health while infuriating moderate voters.
For either to mean anything we would need to have the MW at a much higher number and the death tax returned to its pre indexing amounts and rates. Both arguments are libetarian crap from the right and is as silly as the welfare socialism from the left.
