Wbmw:

You missed this. You are not alone, most Intel boosters missed this:

"Interestingly, the Phenom wins here by quite a margin."

The 2.3GHz Phenom 9600 beats every Intel CPU tested on UT3. Even the 3.2GHz/1600MHz QX9770. Given that the QX9650 at 3GHz/1333MHz gets 53.8fps and the QX9770 at 3.2GHz gets 54.5fps, it would take a 3.86GHz/2744MHz QX9xx0 to match a 2.3GHZ Phenom 9600 at 57.5fps. Actually, it would be more like a 5GHz/1600MHz because the FSB won't go up by another 1100MHz. Alternatively we could take the 59.6fps generated by the Phenom 9900 at 2.6GHz and see how slow a clock would take for a Phenom to match the 54.5fps of the QX9770, 1.88GHz. So even a 1.9GHz Phenom would take all comers from Intel (even those not to be out until Q1/08) in UT3.

"What it boils down to is that there is a tremendous potential embedded in Phenom that does not come into play with the existing software infrastructure. Particularly single threaded games are a lost cause and unfortunately, this is still the standard of the industry. UnrealTournament3 in this respect is a milestone also for the gaming industry and there are other games to follow in the same footsteps that employ more artificial intelligence and PhysX effects, which will cause most dual core processors to choke."

Perhaps you should realize that those HPC customers aren't as dumb as you think they are.
