Air America's Tom Hartman was talking Obama/racism today so it is hardly taboo. democrasts need to discuss this openly. And discuss running a woman too.

The discussion was whether Obama's race will hurt his chances because race still matters in this country even if its politically incorrect to say that.

Everyone agreed the GOP would run a racist campaign against him. Everyone agreed that white voters sometimes promise to vote for a candidate of color but don't show up (ciuting Tom Bradley's run for governor in California). Everyone agreed Harold Ford was demolished with one racist TV ad which freaked out white voters. And everyone also agreed that maybe Obama can rise above all this. Or maybe not. It's really uncharted territory.

same with Hillary and her gender.
