Then, what happened? Economic activity had recovered. Employment was up, but still hadn't reached the same level as before. So, what defines the recovery, economic activity or employment? If the latter measure, then we only recently recovered from the recession when Bush took office...

Sweden as one of the first nations started pulling out of the recession in 1932. Without the assistance of the FDR and his New Deal that is.
