"The New Deal might have done a lot to relieve the suffering, but it certainly did not pull America out of the Great Depression." Then, what happened? Economic activity had recovered. Employment was up, but still hadn't reached the same level as before. So, what defines the recovery, economic activity or employment? If the latter measure, then we only recently recovered from the recession when Bush took office...
