Final poll I saw shows Hillary in third place, out of the margin of error to win. That would mean an Obama-Edwards story. Now, even if Obama is #1 in terms of first choicers in Iowa, say at 30%, Edwards could overtake him from, 28% with the help of second choicers as Richardson and Biden are forced to drop out. They say Edwards wins the second choice polls in Iowa. But we'll see.

I have to tell you though, I have seen a lot of forums of Iowans and progressives where Edwards totally dominates. In Fox New's undecided Dems forum of about 15 people yesterday, Edwards ended up winning over almost all of them. Edwards wins Air America's straw polls 8-1 over Obama and Hillary. Callers to Air America are nearly always Edwards supporters. So maybe real democrats are for Edwards and Obama's support comes from independents and 18 year olds. The problem with that is 18 year olds are not reliable voters. Remember, Howard Dean had their support too.

But let's hope Hillary gets clobbered into third place. I see an Obama Edwards primary battle as a no-lose proposition. Because if Obama is special enough to beat Edwards over and over in heartland states maybe just maybe he can thread the needle. But if not, we have Edwards who will almost guarantee us the White House.
