This country was founded on the principle of freedom of religion.

The founders didn't have your prejudicial sense of self righteousness. They were content with a "free market" of religious ideas.

Your statement "you want Islam, go to the Eastern nations who practice it" is a particularly unAmerican one.

Some of the founders were Christian people. Some were not. Some were "Deists". Some were Agnostics.
