My mother has been an assisted living resident for some 3 years now. She hates being there but knows she must. Her personality has taken a negative change since she moved in. She's no longer very friendly, although most of the other residents know her and always say "hello". She doesn't encourage them to stop in, so they don't. This brings out complaints from her about how anti social all of them are. She is far from the person my brother and I knew for all the years before our father died in 1999. Add to this her chronic pain from osteo and arthritis, among a host of other ails.

I know it's a bit early to be thinking of the need to cool down, but are you familiar with this product? Pretty inexpensive, and looks interesting.

My dad was getting old and wouldn't move when my mother wanted to, by the time they had to go, my dad loved it and my mother had to go to a nursing home..I never forgave him for that.
