Oh yeah...one more thing....mrs shootie....was "stalked" by a local asshole over the last few years.....got a 6 month federal restraining order.....long story....complicated.....but he's on thin ice.

My daughter had a problem with an ex-boyfriend who did not understand the "ex" part.

Got an order. He violated the order repeatedly until I got the police to arrest him. I made sure the City Attorney knew it was a priority for me, and they prosecuted him. That did the trick.

That sheds a whole new light on the quantity of pieces around the abode. Just remember if it gets to that, dead people don't sue.

...dogs seem to be the perfect early warning system

Your story reminded me of our situation a long time ago. We kept two German Shepherds in a low fenced run in our large back yard. They would come out and play with my two kids, but they were instructed to always put the dogs back in the run after play.

So, of course, one afternoon my wife came home to find curtains flowing into the dining area and a broken window. She paged me immediately and I told her to get to the neighbors and stay there. I called the police and he got there ahead of me. The first thing I did was take the dogs out of the run and sent them excitedly through the house. Of course no one was there, but at the top of the stairs going to the bedrooms were two grocery bags with my kids toys in them. The pistol in my night stand hadn't been touched. We decided it was neighborhood kids who watched my wife drive away, came into the back yard, probably with the dogs barking frantically at them.

From that time on, the dogs had the run of the yard.
