My beef is not with anybody's predictions (though ML has been wrong before and the Christmas season did not bear out their predictions) but with the reporting of actual numbers, of past performance.

To take a 3rd quarter with 4.9% GDP growth and 4.7% unemployment and continued job growth (for over 51 straight months) and report these ACTUAL numbers as a recession or almost a recession is to misreport them, plain and simple.

Furthermore, as even Louis Dobbs admitted, they would NEVER be reported that way if either Clinton was in the White House now. The actual numbers of the late 1990s were not this good, but they WERE reported as a great boom. Nobody was running headlines about imminent recession in early 2000, when it would have been appropriate to do so, as events turned out.
