Thats not an answer Bob. I am a believer in lower taxes too, but dont kid yourself--in the short run tax cuts cut revenue for the government. Thats wonderful when spending is super bloated as with reagan. You can live thru that for the most part but today govt spending is more modestly bloated than before. Only real way to cut spending is hard right elimination of whole government departments and agencies and thats just not in the cards with dems running all three branches soon enough. Couldnt even do it when repubs were in charge. So you have to have a rational tax system. For example, i can live with a point or two higher on marginal top rate, dividends and cap gains along with a continuation of bush death tax reform (not elimination) etc. etc.
