Chris is spouting more jingoist nonsense Mike. Money spent abroad is often well spent and in any case is peanuts compared to the overall economy. Tax and spend becomes borrow and spend in almost all cases. And if you start as borrow and spend, taxes will come too so there is little difference. There are times when you have to run deficits. 9/11 was such a time and bush had little choice but to stimulate and not get bogged down in budget debates. If he had regained control of fiscal policy after we deflected the 9/11 depression, we could have avoided much of this.
