I love liberals who want my taxes raised before they will make a charitable contribution even to their own government. Tax increasing if not done properly and at the right time (not now on the cusp of recession) can throw this country into a severe recession. Congrats on the long term cap gains and remember if it wasnt for bush cuts you would have paid ordinary income tax rates on them up to 35% i believe. Not to mention your dividends which are 85% excluded from taxes. You would be broke Kate if it werent for GWB.

If you are not willing to pay the rates you propose then you cannot expect us to believe you think they are better than the legally mandated rates.

Katelew, Charitable donations would sooth your conscience of having so much surplus wealth. Just think - you can even skip the tax deduction for charities if you like.

I personally suggest charity for your conscience.
