An even more compelling damnation, if Intel did nothing wrong, then why did AMD complain that they did ?

Double compelling,

If Intel did nothing wrong, then why does Dan think they did ?

To answer the question seriously, one allegation is that Intel sold processors below the cost of an efficient producer - namely AMD. Now how easily can Intel prove that AMD's costs are not efficient ? I am sure that takes a lot of digging. 6 months is not excessive at all ? Would you expect the original two months to be sufficient to answer a 6 year collection of allegations ?

Part of Intel's defense is that they claim that first $ rebates are legal and the EU says they aren't. In the case of British Air vs. Virgin Air, which involved rebates to travel agents, the EU has already held that setting trigger points as a percentage of previous year sales is illegal, even if the same percentage applied to everybody.

Perhaps the real reason Intel has dropped 18% in the last 5 days and has suffered two downgrades is because some of the brokerage firms know that the EU is not changing their interpretation of the law. Worldwide computer demand is not taking a dump, and 70-75% of Intel and AMD's sales are international.

When the EU announced the complaint, their spokeswoman (Nellie something or other) seemed to restate & reinterpret their applicable law, making it appear much more strict and socialist in nature than previously envisioned. And so Intel wanted time to reformulate its defense against these revised criteria.

Do you generally judge defendants guilty if they request filing extensions?
