The stuff in my freezer is all vacuum sealed with my Food Saver. Meat will keep like that for a year, maybe more. I never let it go that long, of course, and everything that goes into the freezer has a date on it (even the corn).

I went through the stuff on the shelves in the basement a few months ago and did take a few "old" items to the food bank. It made me aware of the waste this sort of shopping was actually causing.

I'm trying to more carefully plan my meals these days. That causes me to only buy what I plan to use over the next few days or week. But, if I buy a dozen eggs, I may only use one or two. After a week or so, I end up hard boiling them and having one over he kitchen sink and call it breakfast. Bachelors can do that! LOL
