There are some parallels as you suggest, but the Democrats have nobody of Hubert Humphrey's stature to go to.

Humphrey was a decent guy, even though I didn't care for his politics. He was chained to LBJ and the establishment and got chewed and screwed as the Dem Party tore itself apart over Vietnam. It's the possibility of the same sort of Dem internal implosion, courtesy of Clinton, happening this year that made me think of '68.

Hilly (the Cackler) has the bucks and the machinery to do a number on Obama and, IMO, won't hesitate to do so, at whatever ultimate cost to her Party. She wants to be President and anything that stands in her way of getting there is fair game.

If she succeeds in taking Obama out, his supporters are not going to take kindly to that...
