given that i am tempted to sell, probably means i should consider buying more

Exactly!

If you dare sell paper or physical, I will from the day of sale refer to you as Jay the Heretical.

What, pray tell, would you do with the proceeds?

That question should give you lots of pause and stop you in your tracks.

Resist the Dark Side, Jay. These kinds of 'sale' thoughts are dangerous.

My colleague in BP did explain how money is more emotion-based than are other measures such metres, kilograms, seconds, rads, litres, lumens, hectares etc.

People relate to money with their emotions. They relate to metres with their minds.

Gold is assuredly a version of money and a more fundamental one than the mental state required to get one's head around a fiat franc. So I can see how emotion links easily to gold.

Similarly, you draw an analogy with reproductive urges which appears in nature to be more fundamental and emotional than an urge to possess gold or other assets. Place gold around the animal kingdom and few will think it attractive. Bower birds and a few others will nab it as possibly helpful in mating rituals. Place some hot females around the animal kingdom and there will be a lot of commotion and conflict.

Suggestion - do not fondle gold when should be fondling reproductive partner. You can tell the difference. One is cold and one is hot. The hot one could go cold if you spend time warming the gold.

<how simple is that? > It is not simple. Very many males have come to grief and early demise in matters of gold and cold. Care, diligence, attention to detail and wariness are wise. Some men think that it's not possible to understand women and that they are not simple. Gold too is not simple, though it just sits there. It will also mess with your head.

You're not saying "Swap Gold for breakfast"?
