wife travelled to israel, jordan, turkey, russia, and india at the time, upon graduating biz school, and by the look of the credit card tallies at the time, 6-star treatment said deflation, as in nothing was worth anything and everything was for sale, cheap

because credit and money disappeared

as in deflation

the fact that the locals could not afford anything with the paper they had in hand was because what they had was worthless paper, relative to what they needed to cloth and feed themselves with

what afflicted them was not learnedly called inflation, but destruction of everything they valued relative to everything they needed - monetary reset, yes, inflation, not really

we will soon enough learn by way of examples in california and cnbc will still be screaming 'inflation' until the bottom of deflation abyss
