When times get tough, things go back to basics. The luxuries and fripperies are the losers and those dependent on them are in trouble. People still eat, sleep, use cyberspace, talk etc. The real-time experimental piles of 10 million humans in giant conurbations is a challenge. When things are crunched, shaken, and tested to their foundations, the weak, careless, unlucky, etc, are removed. It's part of natural processes. Those basics are good at times like that. Mqurice
