There has been a recession going on for several years. Junior has been wasting about 20% of GDP on his wars with absolutely no beneficial return. It hasn't been apparent (numerically) because Greenspan and his minions hid the real recession with a bunch of cheap credit and debt. The core is starting to rot out of that policy.

I agree with you that certain American industries have been in a recession of sorts.......those that have depended exclusively on the American economy. That along with Bush's war waste has made the US the laggard in global economic growth during Bush's tenure. However, there are American industries that have been booming......those who have considerable business overseas. Its this hit or miss boom in commodities, basic materials and power generation that has masked the underlying problems of the US economy.....more so than Greenspan's cheap credit. Cheap credit is mostly tied into the housing industry. I think Greenspan is an easy target........too easy......economic problems usually are more complicated than that.
