Leveraging means using some to gain advantage - and if you think you can use debt to your advantage so be it. You can leverage you daddy's connections to become President -- that is leveraging as well. You can leverage being VP of the USA to stuff the pockets of your friends -- so be it. You have access to a resource -- you use it -- you are using a lever to amplify your "power" over other resources.
