You mean, I guess, that it has been possible to borrow dollars, buy other currencies or gold, and make a lot more money than the interest rate on the borrowed dollars.

That spells doom for the Japanese yen carry trade. I think the yen could appreciate to where it will be 80 yen to the dollar. A disaster for a lot of people who have borrowed yen.
