Go back to the very link you gave : foreclosure.com This is what it says under Listing Information on the right hand side : Listing Information California Info Updated: Jan 6, 2008 9:07:08 AM Foreclosures: 32,781 Preforeclosures: 111,524 Bankruptcies: 20,068 FSBOs: 1,388 Tax Liens: 255,699 Auctions: 0 Contra Costa County Info Foreclosures: 1,488 Preforeclosures: 5,719 Bankruptcies: 546 FSBOs: 29 Tax Liens: 6,507 The population of Danville is 42,547 and the population of Contra Costa county is 1,024,319 (per US Census bureau). If you take the county's stats and wrongly apply it to Danville which has less than 1/20th the population of the county, it sure would make it look alarming.
