This column I posted by George Will speculates that alliance in the Republican party between Religion and Capitalism is coming apart. We thought Bush's "compassionate conservatism" campaign in 2000 was a ploy. Turned out it wasn't. Now Huckabee is taking it even further. There has always been a dichotomy between Christianity and Capitalism, going back to the Church's original rejection of interest. Provides further evidence for Ayn Rand's claim that altruism provides a lousy philosophical basis for capitalism.
